Refuse and Recycling

Weekly waste collection, recycling and bi-weekly pre-schedule bulk waste services will be provided to homes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Riverside residents will be provided with a blue recycling bin that must be used for the recycling collection services.

Weekly waste and recycle collection will be provided by the City of Dayton.
In addition free bi-weekly “Bulk Waste” collection will be available on a pre-schedule basis by calling the City of Dayton at 333-4800.

Special Note: The City of Dayton waste collection services operates every business day and every holiday except Christmas Day. After Christmas Day all trash service will be delayed by one day for that week.

Waste Containers – the residents can use their own trash cans or bags but they call also  rent a roll-off container which is on wheels from the City of Dayton for $2.00 a month which will be billed to them semi-annually.  If interested, please call the City of Dayton at 333-4800.


Guidelines for Setting Out Waste and Recycle Items on Collection Day

  1. Keep your containers or trash bags away from parked cars and other obstacles.
  2. Put your waste containers or trash bags and recycle bins out by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
  3. Do not overfill your containers or recycle bins and all trash bags should be tied.
  4. Do not put loose trash in your waste container. Please wrap or bag all trash first than place it in your waste containers.
  5. Yard waste (brush, hedges, tree limbs, etc.) must be tired into bundles not larger than 4 feet long and 18 inches in diameter. Bundles are limited to 25 pounds each.
  6. Recyclable means glass, aluminum, tin, plastic (#1 through #7), newspaper, magazine, cardboard, or other material determined by the City.

How Do I Schedule A “Bulk Waste”  Pick-Up

  1. Bulk waste pick-ups must be scheduled in advance by calling (937) 333-4800. Please call between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  2. Bulk waste items should be set out by 7:00 a.m. on the pre-scheduled collection day.
  3. One pick-up equals material totaling 4 ft x 8 ft x 4 ft in size. 
  4. You must separate your metal items (stove, refrigerators, etc.) from other bulk items. Remember to remove refrigerator doors. The Freon does not have to be removed but the doors have to be off or it will not be picked up.
  5. All loose and small items must be securely contained, bundled or bagged for easy pick-up.
