The Dayton Division of Waste Collection
collects trash once a week in residential areas and collects bulky items
upon request. You can help the City of Dayton provide you with excellent
waste collection services. If you have any questions or are in need of

Recycling Saves
Money. The more recyclable materials that are diverted away from the
standard landfill, the more money the City of Dayton saves in related
fees. Leave recycling containers and bagged newspapers on the curb
at least five feet from
trash containers. Residents who need additional containers can
call 333-4800.

Bulk Waste Reminders

The City of Dayton provides four bulk-waste
pick-ups a year at no cost. Bulk
waste pick-ups must be scheduled in advance by calling 333-4800. Residents can call between new expanded hours
of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Bulk waste items are to be set out after 3:00
p.m. of the day before the
scheduled pick-up. City crews begin pick-ups at 7:00 a.m.
When do you need to call Waste Collection?
· For a bulk waste pick up
· For yard waste pick up
· Tire collection
· Stolen container
· Customer concerns
· Container repairs (if your 90-gallon can needs a wheel, lid, etc.)

Types of waste
· Household - Trash accumulated in running a normal household.
· Recyclable - Glass, cans, plastic bottles and jugs (#1, # 2, and #6) and also newspaper.
· Bulk - Couches, chairs, mattresses, etc.
· Yard Waste - Tree limbs, bushes (grass is not considered yard waste and will not be collected).
· Metal - Refrigerators, stoves, etc.
· Tires - Montgomery County residents may use the services of either the North or South Solid Waste Facility to drop off up to 20 tires a year free of charge (only 10 tires per drop).

Waste Collection Do’s and Don’ts
· Do have your rollout container or bulk items out by 7:00 a.m.
· Do keep bulk and metal items separated (they’re picked up by a separate truck).
· Do place the recycling container or any other items at least 5 feet from your rollout container.
· Do keep yard waste separated from other collection items (it also must be cut and tied in 4-foot lengths no larger than 18 inches in diameter).
· Do not leave rollout at curb or alley after collection.
· Do not overfill rollout (lid should be closed on rollout).
· Do not place any hot items in rollout (e.g., ashes from fireplace).
· Do not place rollout close to any obstruction (such as an automobile).
· Do not put loose trash in rollout (wrap or bag all trash).
· Do not have trash piled on or around rollout.
JUST A REMINDER, WE WORK ALL HOLIDAYS EXCEPT CHRISTMAS DAY
During the holiday season, the 90-gallon limit will be waived from December 15 until January 15. Excess household trash will be collected during the regularly scheduled waste collection day. This will not include bulk items or items from cleaning out of basements, etc.
